Quick Tip: This is a Business
If you treat your trading like a hobby or pastime you’ll lose money. If you treat it like a business, you have a much better chance for success.
The expense side of trading is simple to analyze. You have losses, commissions, data fees, internet access, accounting, etc.
The revenue side of trading is simple as well: your winning trades. But that’s only one revenue stream if you’re trading one strategy.
How many successful businesses do you know of that have one product? One revenue stream?
Diversifying your revenue potential in your trading business makes good sense. If you’d do it in your “working” business why wouldn’t you do it in your trading business?
For example, if you like day trading you could add a swing trading strategy to your trade plan. It wouldn’t steal much time from your primary revenue stream. You could create a dividend producing portfolio. That requires even less time. There are many combinations.
Other than receiving more revenue you’ll likely flatten the losing streaks and make your income more consistent. Invest some time exploring how to diversify your trading revenue. No downside to that.
